New UNODC handbook aims to help remove barriers for vulnerable groups in accessing justice
31 May 2019 - One of the greatest challenges that poor and vulnerable groups across the world face in accessing justice is a lack of confidence in the quality of legal aid services. To support States and lawyers in the difficult task of enhancing the quality of these services, UNODC launched the ' Handbook on Ensuring Quality of Legal Aid Services in Criminal Justice Processes: Practical Guidance and Promising Practices' at a side event at the 28th Crime Commission.

28 May 2019 - As the first global anti-corruption instrument with a dedicated chapter on asset recovery, the United Nations Convention against Corruption sets the bar high when it comes to ensuring that stolen assets are being returned. Invited by the Governments of Ethiopia and Switzerland and supported by UNODC, experts from all over the world gathered in Addis Ababa to learn from cases in which assets were returned to the States that they had been stolen from.
