Ecuador joins UNODC #DeadlyBusiness Campaign against Migrant Smuggling
Cuenca (Ecuador), 4 October 2019 - The Government of Ecuador officially adopted the #DeadlyBusiness campaign against migrant smuggling, an initiative of UNODC, on 1 October. The campaign aims at informing migrants about the risks involved in hiring smugglers to leave their countries of origin in an irregular manner. By joining this project, Ecuador is taking an important step towards the implementation of the "Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration".

UNODC-supported report on rehabilitating children with offences related to violent extremism launched in Beirut
Beirut (Lebanon), 2 October 2019 - Lebanon launched the first national report on its efforts to rehabilitate children with offences related to violent extremism or terrorism, titled " From Suspect of Terrorism to Faith in Life", on 26 September. The report shows how children were reintegrated into the community under the "Reconciliation with Life" program, through specialized activities, programs and mechanisms, and by resorting to experienced staff to ensure proper implementation.

Honduras joins UNODC Blue Heart Campaign against human trafficking
Tegucigalpa (Honduras), 30 September 2019 - In an effort to raise awareness against the crime of human trafficking, Honduras joined the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Blue Heart campaign on 23 September. At least 194 people have been rescued human trafficking in Honduras so far in 2019.

Winner of Breach-Valdez Prize for Journalism and Human Rights meets UNODC experts in Vienna
30 September 2019 - In June 2019 a team of seven journalists received the Breach-Valdez Prize for Journalism and Human Rights for their research on drug-related deaths in Mexico. Their investigative piece "The country of 2,000 graves" combines narrative journalism with sophisticated data visualization and revealed that almost two thousand clandestine graves, in which criminals disposed of their victims, were found in Mexico between 2006 and 2016.
