Uganda, UN and EU launch joint initiative to counter violent extremism in prisons
20 September 2019 - On 10 September Uganda took an important step in addressing violent extremism in prisons by launching a four-year initiative under the programme "Supporting the management of violent extremist prisoners and the prevention of radicalization to violence in prisons." This initiative is supported by the United Nations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Union and the Government of the Netherlands.
